Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Scribbler on December 21, 2008
"A white Christmas is something not experienced here in Australia...but there is snow in the shops."
Snow, Snow, Snow!
I’m a store snowflake, an impostor I know, but outside is so hot and there is no real snow.
I know I’m synthetic, but I try to bring joy
to every visiting girl and boy.
I help them imagine a snowy scene,
all crisp and white and smooth and clean.
I please adults too, for you mustn’t forget
that many have never seen real snow yet.
I get a bit grubby, for I’m frequently felt,
But I’m not cold and wet, and at least I don’t melt.
There is snow of course, but it’s way south of here,
and certainly not at this time of year.
The season’s soon over, then quick as a flash
I end my days as a pile of trash.
