"So, I didn't die or vanish off the face of the earth, I just joined the Air Force and got real busy. For my comeback poem here's something about a cowboy up in the woods and what happened to him."
High-Velocity Lead or The Cowboy's Lament
It was a dark and stormy evening and I was just about to leavingwhen some lightning spooked the horses and they up and run away
they were towards the hills a heading and you sure can be a betting
I was real upset and angry and this disruption to my day
But it weren't only the roaming of my ride I was bemoaning
as the ammo in the saddle bags strapped to 'em when they fled
and as the night comes down around me and the wolves prowl close around me
right 'bout now I'd trade those horses for some high-velocity lead.
