Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction
Hung man
A pebble in a pond leaves no ripplesUnless it sinks.
And now, hurtling across this sea
Of faces go I,
Flung or flying or both.
But the rope will catch me for a moment,
And all eyes will remember.
I spoke for all of you even though none
Will speak for me.
Please don’t forget.
You may forget the name or the noose,
But remember the words.
Remember the actions that will lay, are laying
The foundation for the future
I will never see.
