Writing Resources from Fifteen Minutes of Fiction

The following is a piece of writing submitted by Laura on July 26, 2008
"I realize the format changes oddly half-way through, but I think it fits with the image I'm trying to create."
Thoughts of Fall
Every year, the autumn rattles shutters -Elicits from the trees a rousing flutter
Of leaves to fill and densely clog the gutter.
At which point I then begin to mutter,
And then, indoors, to retrieve the faithful putter
To drag along the sides and clear the gutter.
To clear a path for water,
To drip as down a sink,
A smooth, relentless flow -
As I desire to think -
A paper on which to scrawl
My clogging mental ink,
To watch the seasons change,
And let the senses blink.
